Kumari. Lavanya Sundararaman hails from a rich classical background. It is indeed divine blessing that she had the good fortune of learning from the doyen of music Gana Saraswati and Sangeetha Saraswati Smt. D KPattamal, her great grand mother, even when she was a toddler.

She was groomed into a talented vocalist by her grand mother Smt. Lalitha Sivakumar, mother Smt. Gayathri Sundararaman and aunt Dr.Nityasree Mahadevan.

Her mother’s maternal grandfather is the Mridangam Maestro, Sri. Palghat TS Mani Iyer and paternal grand mother is Sangeetha Saraswati Smt. DK Pattamal.
